This will serve as a place to provide updates on classmates seen and not seen at the October reunion. Enjoy!
After calling or emailing most of you I learned some great things about how lives have changed. See updates below: Back in September I received the following update from Jimmy Hickey: Right now, I am actually in Tokyo visiting a college roommate. As for updates:
· I have been living in Houston, Texas for the past 5 years. It’s been a big cultural adjustment after living in NYC, S.F., D.C., Boston, Denver, & Seattle. However, it does have its benefits. I moved because of my wife. Last year, she finished her Masters in Architecture at Rice and is now practicing.
· I knew my wife from college. However, we started dating three years after I graduated when I was living in S.F. and was staffed on a consulting project in DC (where she was living and working). It’s a small world.
· We have two little girls (Magnolia (2 years old and named after the NYC bakery) and Seattle (4 years old)
· I used to work at a boutique investment bank (WoodRock) in Houston. I quit in February. I have been spending my time working on a start-up based upon technology licensed from the University of Vermont and consulting to a health plan to pay the bills. In addition, I am in my second year at Wharton.
· Still a die-hard Redskins fan. I think I check the website every day.
· I used to be an avid athlete although school, family, and work have broken that habit, and I now find myself fat & happy. However, I did the Florida Ironman in 2001.
Steve Davenport is living in DC and is enjoying working at the World Bank Aresh Homayoun is in the DC area working as a lawyer at Patton Boggs. He was one of the many classmates to go to Landon. They are expecting their first baby in March '07! Jamie gets back to DC from time to time to visit with family. Fred Regan is living in Bethesda and is on the Presidential detail for the US Secret Service. He was in the Marines, graduated from the Naval Academy and the rest is top secret. :) Got to come to the next reunion to hear his amazing stories. Joel Samuels is living in Columbia, SC and working as an Assistant Professor of Law at USC School of Law. Cameron Murphy - is living in Los Angeles and stays in touch with Steve Davenport. I did not get details on work but hopefully we will see him at Christmas to get the scoop. Trystan Davies - Went to med school at University of Maryland and is now a doctor in the ER at a hospital in New York City (Harlem Area). Susan (Daisley) Doyle wrote - I live outside of Baltimore in Lutherville with my husband of almost 11 years and our three kids. I recently went back to work and sell real estate, so between that and our kids schedules I am really busy. The boys, Brendan, Patrick and Kevin are 8,6, and 4, all play sports etc.. so we are constantly on the go. George Watson - is a VP at Sterling Venture Partners in Baltimore. He is married to Mary and has a 1 1/2 year old daughter Abbey. He and his wife are expecting a baby boy in January '07! George showed up at the St. Patrick's Homecoming daytime events and I enjoyed having a quick chat. Again, here is a link if you want a deeper bio from his work and picture! Bronwen (Sarah) Kennedy Buckley - Is married to an Irishman, Brian Buckley, living in DC enjoying a new baby girl, Oona. Lucky for us she left her babe for a few hours to join the evening alum gathering at the DC Boat House. She shared stories of living in Paris, working as a creative director, making ads and movies and enjoying travels. Nabil Kaddhuri - (Nabil - I apologize I lost your update off the Evite!) I believe the update is he is in Washington State, married with a daughter.. send me another update and I'll get it right! Vanessa Beveridge - Is currently living in DC and working at the Rock Creek Stables, where she has been a rider and horse owner for many years. Vanessa came out for the day and night time events - thank you very much! Peter Corrigan and Miles Denniston wrote in their own updates and shared great pictures. Miriam Perez wrote - Hi everyone! I was so excited about the reunion and getting to see everyone again after so many years!!! ~ until I realized I'd be out of the country at that time. I'm sure it'll be a blast and I will miss seeing everyone. It's been a LONG time!!! I'll share a little bit of what's happened since we last saw each other: After high school (Holy Cross), I went to UMD in College Park. There, I became a loyal Terp basketball fan, despite a few of the team's shortcomings and I also got my Bachelors in Int'l Business and Spanish. After graduation, I did some traveling and then came back to settle into the life of adulthood and working FT. I'm still in the area, living in Silver Spring MD to be exact. I'm currently working for an investment firm in Rockville, Rydex Investments, in Human Resources. I've been with Rydex for 6.5 yrs and I love it.
Since I'm local, if anyone is up for getting together some time & catching up, count me in! Have fun at the reunion, I'll be thinking of you all : )
As for me Kristen (Cogar) Burtle I graduated from Madeira with Susannah Carleton, I lived in Boulder Colorado, Philadelphia, New York City, London and Santa Monica. Wound up back in the DC area - currently living in Arlington, VA, married to Andrew, with a 4 year old daughter Lindsay and a 1 1/2 year old son, Landon. Working in IT Web Development, photography on the side, JLW, just being plain busy.. so why am I still up in the middle of the night writing these updates? Cause it was a lot of fun talking to all of you. It was especially cool to see those who came out Saturday in person. Definitely worth it. Susannah Carleton - last I know was living in Colorado running her own Eastern Medicin clinic. She has a little girl, who is adorable. Nicholas Kelemen - is living in Paris. |
